The Problem(s)
There seems to be minimal education and no playbook for the business + workforce of the future.
Automation. Gender disparity in executive leadership and pay. MBA programs that are 10 years behind the market. A 2017 McKinsey Report cites that anywhere between 10 million and 800 million workers by 2030 will be displaced through automation. The 2017 McKinsey Women in the Workplace Report cites only 21% of C-Suite executive roles are held by women, only 3% of that is women of color. The gap in pay between genders... seems to be only the tip of the iceberg, and that's a worldwide issue. Even getting more education and accomplishments can hinder a woman!
Solution
By creating free high-quality creative video content that educates, entertains and inspires on eCommerce products, trends, and business, I can scale and create a relationship that serves all people, with a focus on women, that do not typically have access to Tech education and supports a shift to knowledge-based occupations, entrepreneurship, and empowerment.
Data
Intended Impact
To go from an educational reach from 350+ to 300,000+ in the first year of content development.
I have tracked ~50%+ of those that participated in my programming have either achieved a new role in the area of eCommerce, were promoted, or launched and furthered their bootstrapped ventures. Content is free and open to all + targets women such as stay-at-home moms, seniors, young women who are starting out in life who have big ideas, but potentially have high student loan debt or are dealing with a career where they've been impacted by the pay gap, where they do not necessarily have a ton of money to kick toward their initiatives or high-priced education, and my fellow Puerto Rican women who are still living on the island who love Puerto Rico and want to afford to be able to stay in Puerto Rico, as a result of the impacted economy by the 2 Hurricanes, Irma and Maria, (I didn't call it out in my video, but friends, I'm bi-racial, I'm Puerto Rican and Jewish, and have 11 family members over there. My Hebrew name is Maya. Boom.).
Milestones
Phase 1: OFFICE HOME for more effective planning. I've been like a gypsy and couldn't justify getting a WeWork membership.
Phase 2: BETTER PRODUCTION QUALITY by being able to afford the right resources that are closer to what I am used to from my professional life, while still staying scrappy. Shooting at least 1x a month to produce anywhere from 10-20 pieces of content 2-3 minutes each. With that in mind, I can better plan for discovery and engagement strategy to reach women, as described in Impact.
Phase 3: LEGITAMACY. This is more than just being a "YouTube" creator, which I still have not locked on as the optimal platform for this work. This is about creating a voice in a community who needs support and encouragement in such strange times, but by declaring seed money, it would make other groups more open to working with me to explore reach and impact.
Phase 4: PARTNERSHIPS. The funding is for the video content and stabilizing the organizational structure around it, which is primarily ME! In order to create more pathways and impactful influence, I will need to expand relationships aligned with the brand, mission, and initiatives of the content.
